Alternative Splicing Events (ASE)

KDASDB provided the PSI values of five splicing types: skipped exon (SE), alternative 5′ splice-sites (A5SS), alternative 3′ splice-sites (A3SS), retained intron (RI), and mutually exclusive exons (MXE).

KDASDB takes the isoform that containing exons as the “included isoform”, and the other lacking exons, referred to as the “excluded isoform”. In other words, the “included isoform” had a shorter intron length than the “excluded isoform”. By comparing splice junctions and exon-intron boundaries between these two isoforms, we were able to identify and quantify the specific ASEs present in the transcriptome.
